Dr Alvin Ng Choon Yong, PBM

Dr Alvin Ng Choon Yong, PBM is a Consultant Respiratory Physician and Intensivist with O2 Lung Centre. He was the President of the Society of Intensive Care Medicine. He was also the Vice President of the Singapore Thoracic Society and past council member of the Asia Pacific Society of Respirology. He was the executive committee member of the Chapter of Intensivist and is currently the Chair of the Chapter of Respiratory Physicians, Academy of Medicine Singapore. In addition, he had served in various hospitals’ Medical Advisory Board. Dr Alvin Ng was the Chief Commissioner of the St John Brigade Singapore Headquarters and was Vice Chairman of the Singapore St John Council.

Dr Alvin Ng was awarded the Singapore Armed Forces Medical Scholarship in 1996 to study Medicine in the National University of Singapore (NUS). This scholarship was the only medical scholarship given out in Singapore at that time and only 6 scholarships were given out each year. Dr Alvin Ng had graduated from NUS in 2001 and had went on to train successfully in Internal Medicine and became both a Specialist in Respiratory Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine. He was awarded the Public Service Medal in 2023 for his public service contributions towards the National Covid-19 efforts.

Dr Alvin Ng has special interests in Obstructive Airway Disease like Asthma and COPD as well as Invasive Mechanical Ventilation for ICU patients. Dr Alvin Ng believes passionately in providing personalised patient-centric care to all his patients.
